Meet the Church Planter

Amos E. Williams Jr., M.Div.

Hey, I’m Amos. I’m married to the love of my life, Jessica Williams. We’ve been married since March 2013 and have two sons, Caleb and Christian. I grew up in the urban context of Decatur, AL. My father is a former member of the Nation of Islam and the Black Panthers. As a child, I watched my father develop in his faith journey. He eventually became a Baptist pastor and raised my sisters and me in a Christian home. I don’t remember a moment when I did not know Jesus as Lord and Savior, but it wasn’t until college that I took ownership of my faith. As a college freshman, I experienced an identity crisis that caused me to question my faith. I explored several Black Religious Identity Cults *(BRICs) in search of dignity and community. The Lord saved me during this season of my life, and I entered gospel ministry. I have been walking imperfectly with Jesus since then.

I attended Alabama A&M University and Moody Bible Institute for my undergraduate studies. After college, I worked on staff at The Village Church and studied at Beeson Divinity School at Samford University. In 2021, I was called as the Assistant Pastor at The Village Church, and in 2022, I accepted the call to plant Hope City Church. I am grateful for the opportunity to establish Hope City Church in Huntsville.

*Black Religious Identity Cults include black religious movements like The Nation of Islam, The Five Percenters, and The Moorish Science Temple.

OUR VISION

To see a movement of Gospel Hope spread throughout Huntsville and beyond.

OUR MISSION

To help you experience Hope by being the Hope you need.

Our Values

  • We trust and believe God's word is true (John 14:6; 17:17).

  • We live lives of radical generosity for the flourishing of the Church and community (Deuteronomy 10:12-13; James 1:27).

  • We live together in Christian community as a diverse family united with Christ (Ephesians 2:11-22; 4:16; Galatians 3:27-29).

  • We glorify God, and we enjoy doing it (Philippians 4:4 Romans 14:17)!

What We Believe

We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy universal church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
